WCER Technical Services

WCER Technical Services provides computer and creative services to WCER researchers. We offer skilled personnel and advanced technologies that can provide projects with research-focused programming, web site design, video, network, multimedia, and graphics expertise. In addition, we provide hardware and software purchasing, setup, on-going technical support, server space, and training. Technical Services also provides the secure network environment in which end-users may collaborate across campus without sensitive data being compromised. These operations lay the foundation for all Technical Service functions at the Wisconsin Center for Education Research (WCER) and the School of Education (SOE).

Getting Technical Support

Technical Services provides technical support for all WCER projects and business units. Use one of the following methods to obtain technical support:

• Use the support web page. This method is the most efficient for requesting routine service. You will receive a return e-mail message from Technical Services letting you know that your request is being addressed.
• Send an e-mail message to support@wcer.wisc.edu. Describe the problem as best you can, and be sure to include your contact information, including a phone number. It's also helpful to let us know the urgency level of the problem.
• Call Technical Services at 263-4333. This method is the best one in an emergency. For routine service, however, it's not the most efficient method—the appropriate staff member may not be available at the moment you call, or may be busy with another help request.

Checking out Equipment

Need to borrow some specialized equipment? Technical Services has lots of equipment available for you to borrow, including PC and Mac laptops, digital cameras, video cameras, projectors, and tripods.

• Use the Equipment Loan Form (PDF) to reserve what you need, or send an e-mail message to support@wcer.wisc.edu.
• A list of check-out equipment is available online. For further information about these resources, or to check-out equipment, please contact Technical Services at 263-4333.
