Dell and Apple Battery Recall Information

Most people are aware that both Dell and Apple have issued recalls on certain lithium-ion batteries used in notebook computers. These batteries were manufactured by Sony Corporation of Japan, and pose a safety risk. The batteries may overheat and possibly catch fire under rare circumstances.

The batteries in Dell computers were installed in notebooks sold from April 2004 to July 18, 2006. Not all notebooks sold within this time period contain the recalled batteries.

The batteries sold in Apple computers were sold worldwide from October 2003 through August 2006 for use with the following notebook computers: 12-inch iBook G4, 12-inch PowerBook g4 and 15-inch PowerBook G4.

Please contact WCER Technical Services if you think you have a recalled battery. Send a message to the support e-mail address: support@wcer.wisc.edu or call 263-4333.
