Server OutagesOn Tuesday, December 21st, the Resource Scheduler application will be updated. This will result in a downtime for the application beginning at 4:00 PM and extending for up to 2 hours. On Wednesday, December 22nd, Technical Services will be conducting networking maintenance in the SoE datacenter. This will result in intermittent outages across WCER services,
including the main file server and web server from 6:00PM to 9:00PM Please prepare any materials you may need to access ahead of time. WCER Technical Services Server Downtime PolicyThe application/file server, database server, and web server systems in use at WCER have evolved to a level of complexity that requires ongoing tuning and maintenance in order to provide the WCER community with reliable, secure, and high performance systems. The majority of times, this work can be accomplished in the background without any noticeable impact on our customers. However, there are times when we cannot effectively do this work while the systems are in use. As a result, Technical Services has instituted planned system outages for our servers so that our customers can effectively plan their work. All servers may potentially be taken off-line for maintenance purposes and will be unavailable for use Wednesday evenings from 7:00PM – 9:00PM. Additionally, all servers may potentially be taken off-line and will be unavailable for use Tuesday from 12:00PM – 2:00PM. This regular work time period will only be used in extraordinary situations or when we have vendor technical support personnel on site. Planned server outage information will be posted on the WCER Technical Services web site. This policy does not mean that our systems will be unavailable during these times every week.
