Audio/Video Transcription

Transcription is an important component of many research projects. WCER researchers have a number of options available if they need transcription of audio or video.

  • David Woods
    • Has created and develops a video transcription tool, Transana.  This tool has been used by a many researchers to transcribe either video or audio so that analysis can take advantage of these potentially rich data sources.  David can provide advice to researchers who anticipate audio or video transcription and he can provide referrals to student transcribers in WCER.  dwoods@wcer.wisc.edu  262-1770

  • Student hourlies/LTE’s
    • Projects can hire students, and in some cases, Limited Term Employees on an hourly basis for transcription.  This requires the project to provide space, equipment and software for the transcriber.

If you are interested in advertising and hiring your own employee for transcription work, please contact Mary Hegge. mhegge@wisc.edu  262-9173

  • Data Shop
    • The Data Shop in Janesville does transcription for some projects.  They can be reached at solutions@datashop-america.com (608) 752-2580.  Please contact Linda Diring prior to signing any contracts with an outside vendor to ensure that all UW policies and procedures are followed. diring@wisc.edu 263-1489
